Congratulations!
Anyway, how can I contact Ms. Melerie Pineda of DILG R3? I have some questions to ask if she won’t mind regarding her new position (Info Tech Officer I). I really appreciate anyone who can share me her email address.
I’m actually an applicant of the said position as well in another region. Hope she can give me ideas.
Thank you very much and God Bless!
Best Regards,
Luiz

Thanks, Nins for this post! To Mr. Luis de Asis, this is Mel Pineda, you can contact us thru tel. no. (045) 4552474 for the concerns you may want to ask. We have a chat group of other Info Tech Officers in other regions, I think some of the said position in other regions is not yet filled up. But of course, you have to pass their screening process. Anyway, I am praying for a positive result of your application. By the way, may I know where are you from?

Hi Mam Mel! I’m really interested working with DILG with that position. I’m from Cebu (finished college and currently working) but originally from N. Samar. I’m done with the screening process and yesterday was our last written and practical exams followed by a panel interview at DILG R8. unfortunately, I don’t have any background with Website development/design since I’m an ECE graduate. But will find a way to study the soonest possible. Thank you so much for your time reading this and for your prayers. I’m finally back here in Cebu and will wait for their email for the result. I’m praying that we’ll chat soon if this is really God’s plan for me. God Bless you and keep safe! -Luiz

…and Mam Mel, I would really appreciate if you can advise me what specific training on website development/programming/design should I focus/study on so I can fully apply it if ever I’ll be hired at Regional Office and for future reference as well. Thanks again for your time.

Hello, Mr. Luis! I suggest that while you are waiting for a notice from DILG Region 8 regarding the status of your application, you could start of equipping yourself with knowledge on website programming by buying and reading a book which deals on Basic Web Development such as Dreamweaver, which I think is the simplest and most basic compared with other Web Development tools. Actually, I myself have just started exploring it because I am not performing IT functions in my previous position. Another web development tool introduced to the ITOs in the Department is Joomla. Should you be hired in DILG Region 8, I hope we could keep in touch. Good luck and God Bless You!

Hi Mam Mel, thank you for replying to me always. Yes, I have already started equipping myself with that since I returned to Cebu from Leyte. I’m already reading e-books on basic web development and you just confirmed to me that Dreamweaver and Joomla will suffice in creating a government website. But I will also include the HTML, CSS, PHP and Javascript in my learning. Hopefully I’ll learn this soon with my extra time after work. I’ve also visited your website DILG3 and I’m impressed, you have already an attractive site for our public to view. I’m praying too that someday I’ll be able to help you in any way. Thank you again, take care and God Bless!

You’re welcome, Mr. Luis. Yes, you’re right! You should also have a basic background on the other web tools and drivers such as HTML, CSS, PHP and Javascript for an easier and better appreciation of Dreamweaver and Joomla. Enjoy reading and exploring!

Hello Mam Mel! I did it! ^_^ Thanks for your prayers. I’ll be in DILG R8 by the end of this month. Still rendering my last 30 days of work with my current employer. I have one question regarding web development, Is it just okay to create “static website” or should we really implement a dynamic one? Thank you and I’ll keep in touch soon. I’m still exploring…God Bless!

Hi Mam Mel! =) Hope you’re fine. What web hosting site are you using by the way? I’m planning to use Joomla on my first day of work (Oct 24, 2011). My choices were siteground and sitegator. Will the fees be shouldered by the department? Appreciate your advise. Thank you and God Bless!

Hello Mam Mel! How are you? Hope all is well. I’m already here at DILG 8 as their ITO since Oct 2011. Praise God! May I know our ITO chat group then? Very sorry for I wasn’t able to contact you right away. Been busy preparing for our web launched last Dec 15, 2011. Thank you and God Bless! Hope to see all DILG Regional ITO’s soon during our trainings (if there is).
